Wicken battery storage

Our first ever battery situated between two medieval settlements.

Project summary

Wicken battery project gets its name from the medieval settlement nearby. Wicken and Deanshanger, which sandwich the project, are villages to the West of Milton Keynes in Northamptonshire. The 5MW battery stores electricity when energy is abundant and exports it back to the grid during peak usage times when carbon intensity is traditionally highest. The project can provide 1.49 hours of electricity, or 7.45MWh, to the National Grid or the local distribution network.
