Planning consent for Drumduff wind farm extension will triple its generation capacity
The extension will boost the overall capacity of the Scottish wind project to over 21MW.

The disused airfield at Haverigg, adjacent to HMP Haverigg, is a well established wind farm site. Collaboration with Baywind Energy Co-operative here has helped support this project throughout its construction and years of operation.
Our four-turbine project was built in 1998 on the site of an old airfield now used as grazing farmland adjacent to HMP Haverigg. It was the first wind farm in which we invested.
The site neighbours another onshore wind farm and is close to the large offshore Walney wind farm – all testament to what good wind resource there is in this part of the country.
The four turbines we operate here were state of the art at the time they were built and careful management and maintenance over their lifetime means they are still able to generate power for the equivalent of over 1,500 UK homes each year.
We are delighted to work alongside the Baywind Energy Co-operative on this project to bring capital and to extend the ownership and awareness of commercial scale renewables even more widely through the UK public.
Nearby, our community benefit programme has recently awarded grants to two local buildings - Millom Baptist Church and Kirksanton Village Hall - to make improvements to the energy performance and sustainability of these valuable community spaces. These measures have included replacing draughty doors and windows, improving the insulation and increasing natural light, making the halls more accessible, affordable and comfortable for the variety of local groups relying on them.
